The text editor is available at various locations in both the front and the back end. The text editor is meant for formatting text. Think of structurizing content by means of headings or navigation through links. The text itself can also be formatted by, for example, making it bold or italic.
The text editor also offers the possibility to insert images. In most cases, insert images through the front-end editor is recommended. Images that are added with the front-end editor are responsive by default.
Topics in this manual:
In the image to the right shows the buttons you can use to format the text. From left to right:
With the last button, Tx, can be used to clear the current format of the selected text.
Note: all formatting is deleted, not just the layout such as bold or underlined.
With the button with four arrows (see image on the right) you put the text editor on full screen mode. This may work a lot easier, especially if you work on long texts.
By clicking the button again you return to the "normal" screen.
The text editor supports 4 versions of alignment:
If you want to link to another page or to the download of a file: first select the text that will be used. Then click on the button that looks like a small chain (see first button from the image). This opens the popup to create a link.
If the link has to refer to another page or website, please enter the url in the "URL" field. After this click on "OK" to make the link.
Some websites have a security certificate. If you link to a website with a security certificate, set the protocol to https://. This also applies if your own website has a certificate that you want to link to another page.
Do you want to create a link that allows visitors to download a file? Then use the "click here to create a link to a file" button. This option opens the file pop-up where you can upload or select a file. Once you have selected the file, the url will be entered in the URL field. You can then click on "OK" to create the link.
Read more about the file pop-up in the manual about selecting files.
To make a link to an e-mail address select E-mail in Linktype. Then enter the e-mail address you want to refer to. Optionally, you can also specify a subject and a sample piece of content for the e-mail.
To have a link opened in a new tab, click on the "Target window" tab after filling out the URL. Here you choose as the target window for the option "New window (_blank).
To delete a link, first put your cursor on the link. You do not have to select the entire link for this. Then click on the button that looks the same as the button to create a link, only then with a little cross in it (2nd in the image). The link will then be deleted.
To create an internal link, first select text in the page you want to refer to. This can be the head of a new chapter or the first word of a paragraph. Click on the button with the flag after selecting. In the popup that appears, type the name for the internal link. Use only undercase letters and no space for this, ie "myinternelink".
Once you have created the internal link you can refer to it by putting a # behind the url and then the name of your internal link. For example https://www.webanizr.com/mypage#myinternallink. When a visitor opens this link, the page immediately scrolls to the spot with the internal link.
To insert an image you first have to be on the spot in the text where you want the image. Then click on the button to insert an image: the button with a picture of mountains and a sun (1st button in the image).
After clicking on the button, a pop-up appears to insert a file. Click "Browse" in this popup. You can now select the image to place in the text. For more information about selecting images, you can read the manual for selecting files,
After selecting the file you have the possibility to enter the desired width and height. These sizes are in pixels. You can also place the image and later scale the image with the mouse in the editor.
By putting the Alignment on the left or right you can put the image next to the text. However, this is often not recommended because the display on mobile is less predictable.
Headers can be added to the text with the layout button. You can choose from Heading 1 to 6. In general, the title of the page is already in Heading 1, so it is best to make the next header a Heading 2.
In general, the use of Heading 2 is sufficient. Only if the text under a Heading 2 becomes very long can you divide it further by adding Heading 3's.
Do not use the headers as a layout (for example, using Head 5 because it is the correct size). Not using headings correctly has a negative effect on the position of your website in Google. Read more about this in the manual about search engine friendly texts.
The text editor offers the possibility to insert both numbered and non-numbered lists. To insert a numbered list, use the button with a 1 and 2 below each other (1st button in the image). To insert an unnumbered list, use the button with the dots underneath each other (2nd button in the image).
There are also two buttons to jump in within the lists. The 4th button from the image ensures that the line in the list where the cursor is moved to 1 level jumps deeper. With the 3rd button from the image, the rule makes a jump back a level.
Because not all characters are on your keyboard, the text editor has the possibility to insert special characters. The button for this looks like the Greek character for Omega (last button in the image).
The bar opens the popup in which you can select the sign you want to add.
With the button that looks like quotation marks you can make a quotation of the selected text. The text then gets a different layout.
The text should be in a separate paragraph
To place a horizontal line in the text, use the button that represents a thick bar between some lines of text (4th button in the image).
The text editor supports the possibility of inserting tables. There are a few things to keep in mind:
To add a table, click the button that has a table of 3 columns and 2 rows as an image (3rd button in the image). This button opens the pop-up to add a table.
In the pop-up you can indicate how many rows and columns you would like in the popup. It is recommended to set the Width of the table to 100% and leave the Height empty.
With the header heading you can indicate whether you want to show in the first row, first column or both headers instead of data. These headlines get a slightly different layout.
After filling in, click on "OK" to create the table.
Where possible, we recommend adding YouTube videos via the front-end. However, sometimes it can be more practical to add the video via the text editor. For this, the YouTube button (2nd button in the image).
The YouTube button opens the YouTube pop-up. Here you can insert the embed code of the video (you can obtain this on the YouTube page itself). Instead of the embed code you can also choose to place the url of the video in the field below.
Do not forget to tick the box at "Responsive video" so that the video also scales on mobile devices!
Are you looking for a piece of textsomewhere in the text that you have written? The search function can help you find it. Open the search function by clicking on the button with the magnifying glass (see illustration).
Does a word occur several times in the text and do you want to replace it with another word? Then use the search and replace function. Start the search and replace function with the button with a b and a that are exchanged (see illustration).
With the third button from this image all text can be selected. Useful if you want to replace or delete the entire text.
